Preparing Students for College

2008-2009 Online Resources

The Richardson Independent School District provides a wealth of online resources to support student research across the curriculum. These databases

      -contain text, images, sound, and video;

-cover all grade levels and subject areas; and

-are available 24/7 from school, home, or any computer with Internet access.

ACCESS

Students can access the online resources by going to their campus library websites and clicking on either Online Resources from RISD or Online Resources Off Campus.  If students are accessing the databases from home, they will need login information.  (Each campus has its own unique set of IDs and passwords that allow the district to track usage.)  Bookmarks containing login information are distributed annually through the campus libraries.  If a student does not have an online resources bookmark, the campus library staff will be happy to help.

DATABASES

While all databases support the curriculum, EBSCO, Gale, and ProQuest Gold are especially helpful in preparing high school students for college.
