Checking  Out Books

What do I need to check out a book?

ID card

How many books can I check out?

Graphic Novels (GN):  one per person; no specific limit for all other books except for students with long overdue books or fines..

How long can I keep the book?

1.  Reference (REF): Overnight and due in the library by 9 am.

2.  Two weeks:  Fiction, Nonfiction, Graphic Novels, Story Collection, Special Collections, Career Center, and Everybody

Can I renew a book?

Yes!  Renew it by bringing the book and your ID to the library before or on the due date  to avoid fines. 

Where do I return books?

1.  Book drop in the west end of the Circulation Desk.

2.  Book Drop on the library wall in main entrance to Berkner.

Are there fines for late books?

1.  Fines are 15 cents per day per book up to $5.00 per book for all types of books except Reference.

2.  Reference books cost 25 cents per class period per book up to $5.00 per book.

What about damaged books?

1.  If you notice any damage to a book before you check it out, let the library staff know at once and there won't be any charges.

2.  If the book is turned in with damages, the student will be responsible to pay for the damages or to pay for the book if it cannot be fixed.  Any book that has gotten wet and/or moldy will automatically have to be paid for or replaced..

 

Guidelines for Library Computer Use

·    I will always use the computer appropriately as stated in the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

·    I am responsible for remembering my own password and not sharing it with any other student.

·    I will not send or read personal email on the computers in the library.

·    I will not tamper with the external or internal hardware including the cables and cords.

·    I will not tamper with the software or download any unauthorized software or install or run software from a disk, CD, hard drive, network drive or the Internet.  This includes, but is not limited to, CD-ROM programs, freeware, shareware, and plug-ins.

·    I understand that if I print over 15 pages at any one time for school use, I will be charged 15¢ per page for each page over the original 15.  If it is for personal use, I will be charged for all pages printed.

·    I will get permission from the library staff before printing in color.

·    I understand that I may be asked to give up the use of  a computer at the request of the library staff

·    I will not consume candy, food or drink including water while I am in the library.

·    I understand that failure to follow the library computer rules will result in a loss of computer privileges in the library and loss of computer privileges as stated in the AUP and the student Code of Conduct as determined by a campus administrator.
