Special Award Lists
Caldecott
Award Books- The Caldecott is awarded to the
artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. This
award is given by the Association for Library Service to Children, a
division of the American Library Association.
Coretta
Scott King Award Books- The American Library
Association's Social Responsibilities Round Table honors an author and/or
illustrator of African descent who's children's book promotes "an
understanding and appreciation of the 'American Dream'" with this
award.
Newbery
Award Books- The Newbery is awarded to the
author of the most distinguished children's literature book by the
Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American
Library Association.
Texas Bluebonnet Award
Winners-Each year, the 3rd
- 6th graders of Texas award the Bluebonnet to their favorite book. The
nominees for the award are chosen by a committee from the Texas Library
Association's Children's Round Table and the Texas Association of School
Librarians. Each January, Bowie kids vote for their favorite Bluebonnet
nominee.
