LMC Renovations

Only the amount of materials specified by the guidelines are permissable.  (see table).

Students can show their own educational multimedia projects in the course for which they were created (not assemblies) and may use them in their own portfolios as examples of their academic work for later personal uses such as job and graduate school interviews.

Teachers may perform and display their own educational multimedia projects for curriculum-based instruction to students in the following situations:

bulletfor face-to-face instruction
bulletassigned to students for directed self-study
bulletfor remote instruction IF the display is over a secure electronic network in real-time (read: Blackboard), or for after class review or directed self-study.  There must be technological limitations on access to the network and multimedia project (such as a password or PIN, like Blackboard).  Also, the technology must prevent the making of copies of copyrighted material.

Teachers may perform or display their own multimedia projects in presentations to their peers, for example, at workshops and conferences (not assemblies).  They can also keep their own projects for their portfolio for PDAS use or job interviews.

Time Limits

Teachers: for teaching courses, for a period of up to 2 years after the first instructional use with a class. Use after 2 years requires permission for each copyrighted portion incorporated in the production (even for teaching a class).

Students: use in the course and archived for portfolio use (graduate school/job)

Portion Limits

See table

Copying and Distribution Limitations

Only a limited number of copies, including the original, may be made of teacher's project. No more than 2 copies should be available, 1 of which can be put on reserve.

An additional copy may be made for preservation purposes but may only be used or copied to replace a use copy that has been lost, stolen, or damaged. In the case of a jointly created teacher project, each principal creator may retain one copy but only for presentation at conferences, and portfolio use.
