Checking Out Books

Students may check out the number of books that equal their grade level.  Books are borrowed for a two week period and may be renewed.

Overdue and Lost Books

No fines are charged for late books.  Students with long overdue, lost, or damaged books lose check out privileges until books are returned or paid for.  If payment arrangements are necessary, please contact the library at 469-593-6104.

Schedule

GWHE has a modified flex schedule.  All classes are scheduled a weekly time to exchange books.  With teacher permission, students are encouraged to visit the library as often as needed to select new books, study, or do research.  Open slots in the library's schedule are available for teachers to secure additional time for lessons or research that correlate with the classroom curriculum.

Volunteer Opportunities

Students - Library Pages are an important part of the GWHE library.  5th and 6th grade students apply for this position.  Duties include shelving books and other projects in the library.

Parents - Parent volunteers are needed and welcomed to assist in the library on a regular basis or for special events.  Opportunities to help include book fairs, reading promotions, and clerical duties.
