At least a decade of research has been devoted to this question, across multiple states.  Some of these studies are linked below.  Research clearly indicates that a strong library program is the greatest predictor of student success.  A strong library program has been shown to mitigate the effects of socio-economic factors in student achievement, leveling the playing field for many less-advantaged students..
