On Friday, December 14
we had an all school read aloud of The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg.
Students were entertained by their classmates dressed as elves and were
treated to Hot Chocolate. It was very memorable for all. Thank
you to all those who made the day successful!

The reading
challenge was a huge success! One of our very own students was a top
overall reader for the entire city-wide challenge and won a signed Mavs
jersey from Dirk Nowitzki! A celebration pep rally is to come and
prizes will be handed out! Keep on reading!

Following
Children's Book Week on Monday, November 20, Harben students and staff will
be spending the entire morning celebrating reading for fun! That
morning everyone will gather for an all school assembly where our 2nd grade
students will perform two songs from Seussical the Musical and watch
a video starring students and staff telling of their favorite book. The rest
of the morning will be spent reading for pleasure where students will be
visited by special guests for read alouds or can cozy up with their own
favorite book and read silently.
