Graceling by Kristin Cashore |
The most remarkable thing has happened to me
this year as I reviewed books for our school. I have become hooked on
fantasy! This should not come as a surprise, since I loved the Twilight
Series, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and any historical romance with a
happy ending. As with most science fiction books, the stories generally
address serious societal issues and good ALWAYS overcomes evil. It doesn't
get any better than that, right? |

The Twilight Saga by Stephenie
Meyer:
Twilight
New Moon
Eclipse
Breaking Dawn
and soon to be released...Midnight
Sun |
Probably the most exciting books
I've read recently are the Twilight Saga books by Stephenie Meyer.
After considerable urging by teachers and students, and then the online "theft" of
Mrs. Meyer's newest Twilight book, "Midnight Sun;" I decided it was time to
find out what these vampire books were all about. And...WOW! I'm hooked! I
read her online preview of
Midnight Sun while
supervising my "lunch bunch." Let me just say again, "WOW!" |

Trouble by Gary D. Schmidt |
This book is not for the faint of heart. It is a "make you think about the
other side" story. Although one might be tempted to stop reading in the
early parts of the book...the one who perseveres in reading will be rewarded
with a thought-provoking, intertwined-relationships ending that leaves you
glad to have read it. |

Any Jane Austen book |
I would be remiss if I did not admit that Jane Austen is my all-time
favorite writer. Her romance novels, filled with nobility and goodness of
character, always remind me of the fairy-tale endings that can happen when
two people sacrificially place the other first. I love a happy ending. |
