Meet Rhia Johnson , your Library Media Services Specialist!

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education. I taught for 7 years as a classroom teacher before making the switch to the library. I graduated from Texas Woman's University in August 2008, with a Masters Degree in Library Science. I love working with all of the wonderful students at Stults Road Elementary!

SCHEDULING

The library is open from 7:45-3:00 every day. All classes visit the library weekly or bi-weekly to check out books and sign up for additional time for research lessons.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the RISD library media program is to

teach information literacy in collaboration with classroom teachers within the context of the content curriculum,

to inspire and develop a love of reading, and

to provide diverse materials and services, enabling students to become life-long learners.

RESOURCES

Audio-Visual Resources

The library maintains a collection of books on tape and CD, videos, digital cameras, projectors, and many other things to assist teachers in their instructional endeavors.

Books

The library maintains a collection of over 10,000 books designed to support the curriculum as well as encourage students' recreational reading. These books include biography, fiction, nonfiction, professional, and reference titles.
