Look at the opening picture at Chapter 1, which one is Marvin, why do you think that?
What are your predictions about the plot of the book?
Chapter 2:
How could Marvin have blue eyes when no one else in his family does? Discuss dominant & recessive traits and do activity page

Could he really be adopted?

Chapter 3:
Marvin sees the King of Shampoon on TV. The king has curly hair while Marvin has straight hair. Is this evidence that Marvin may be kidnapped?
Chapter 4:
Can kidnappers hide babies in hospitals and the hospital give the "extra" baby away to someone else? Discuss hospital safety and security with the school nurse, Ms. Anderson.
Chapter 5:
Why is Clarence being nice to Marvin? Do you think he's trying to be a real friend?
Chapter 6:
Why is Linzy upset at Marvin's news? Are Mr. & Mrs. Redpost acting like kidnappers?
Look at the pictures on page 40 & 41 and compare the family to our list of dominant and recessive traits. Did the illustrator give you any clues to use about Marvin's claim to be a prince?
Chapter 7:
Why is Arnold's mom making him pretend to be Prince Robert? Do she and Clarence have anything in common?
Chapter 8:
What blood type is the king? ...the prince?
